Conclusion.
Gary sees trading as a series of events:
The next strategy, the next challenge, the next “mentorship”…
Each “shiny object” feels like the answer.
The ‘reset’ button that’ll finally change everything.
But that’s just an illusion constructed by the trading gurus.
The gurus and influencers know how Gary thinks. They create courses and mentorships designed to capture the Gary’s of this world…
… courses that act like a ‘vacuum cleaner’ attached to his wallet.
The results are always the same. Always predictable.
Finns are different.
Finn isn’t searching for the system that will finally make him feel ‘enough’. He already knows he’s got all the resources he needs for success.
He knows building a trading business is a PROCESS, not an event.
It’s something that gets worked on continuously – that requires a commitment to constant and never-ending improvement. The process of showing up each day and doing the work.
Hard f*ckin’ work.
It’s not an easy road.
He’s pig-headed about confronting his subconscious mind and the mental programs that run his behaviour, so that he can execute his strategy without fear, or hesitation.
A Finn doesn’t get better by ‘forcing rules’ on himself.
He evolves by becoming someone different.
It’s uncomfortable. It’s rarely sexy. And it requires a level of ownership most traders rarely reach.
But it works.
Remember the quote by Tom Hougaard.
“Every morning I have to shed my skin and become someone else…”
Most traders skim past gems like that.
Finn builds his entire process around it.
I’ve probably said enough already. I’m sure you’ve got the point.
But I’ll sign off with this:
Some Garys are very comfortable being Gary, as they hop from strategy to strategy.
They don’t want transformation. They want relief.
They’re chasing the feeling of progress, not actual progress.
And when it doesn’t work, they blame the market. They go and vent to their Discord group where everyone else is stuck, too.
But there are other Garys — and maybe you’re one of them — who know something has to change. They’re conscious of what “role” they operate in — and they want a new identity.
They want to be a Finn – if they only knew how.
There’s hope for these Gary’s.
Now some Finns make upwards of 6-figures. Some upwards of 7. Some manage capital for others and fund new ventures.
Or some just quietly build lives of time, space and peace.
But their process is the same:
- They get aligned internally.
- They build from their belief systems first.
- They don’t “react” – they respond.
- They change their lives by first changing how they see themselves.
But the most successful Finns have one other rare quality. They aren’t driven by what they can achieve for themselves.
They are driven by what they can achieve for the world (Lance Breitstein comes to mind).
So… what about you?
Are you a Gary or a Finn?
If you’re currently a Gary, you have a choice to make.
You’re at a fork in the road with a sign that reads “opportunityisnowhere”.

There’s no right or wrong way to read that.
Whatever you choose will be right (for you.)
I choose to reject the status quo. I choose to challenge the 99%. I choose to believe I already have everything I need to succeed within me.
And I choose to add value to the world, if only in my own little way:
I’ve created a 5-part email series that lays out the roadmap to becoming the kind of person for whom discipline in the markets is inevitable.
I’m calling it the Trader Rewired series.
But it’s a tough road – no magic pills here. And it’s certainly not for everybody.
You already know that to be the 1% you have to be prepared to undergo what 99% won’t.
If that‘s you… then welcome. Let’s continue this conversation.
Maybe it’s time to cross that line.
